Priority Periods are in effect and you should only request services if you fall into that category.
Priority Group #1
Beginning October 1, 2024 households with a senior (60+), person(s) with a disability, families with children under the age of 5, and households disconnected from one or both utilities or in danger of being disconnected from one or both utilities can apply for LIHEAP benefits.
Households can only apply for benefits once per program year.
2025 program year range:
October 1, 2024 to August 15, 2025 or before if funds are exhausted.
Furnace Program - 10/01/2024 to 05/31/2025 or before if funds are exhausted.
Priority Group #2
Beginning November 1st all other Cook County households may apply for benefits.
Note: Priority Group #1 households are still eligible to apply during this time if they have not yet applied during the program year beginning Oct 1, 2024.
Households can only apply for benefits once per program year.
2025 program year range:
October 1, 2024 to August 15, 2025 or before if funds are exhausted.
Furnace Program - 10/01/2024 to 05/31/2025 or before if funds are exhausted.
Remote services are open earlier than the program begins!
You may submit your documents and they can be held for processing until 10/01/24.
