ENERGY ASSISTANCE

Application Dates (When can I apply?)

 

Priority Period 1 - October 1:                   Households with a senior member age 60+

                                                                         Households with a person receiving Social Security Disability Benefits

 

Priority Period 2 - November 1:               Households with a senior member age 60+

                                                                          Households with a person receiving Social Security Disability Benefits

                                                                          Households with one or more disconnected utilities

                                                                          Households with children age 5 and under

 

Priority Period 3 - December 1:                Households with a senior member age 60+

                                                                          Households with a person receiving Social Security Disability Benefits

                                                                          Households with one or more disconnected utilities

                                                                          Households with children age 5 and under

                                                                          Open to all eligible low-income households

Required Remote Intake Documents - All required documents must be emailed, faxed, or mailed. Information

                                                                         on where to forward documentation will be provided to you during

                                                                         intake probing.

 

                         LIHEAP Program

  • Proof of current 30-day gross income from all household members.

  • Copy of most recent heat and electric bills if you pay for your home energy directly. (Must provide entire bill along with a disconnection notice if applicable)

  • Social Security Numbers of all household members.  

  • If SSA, SSI, or SSDI is an income the current Social Security Award letter must be presented. A current letter cannot be older than a year. You may obtain an electronic letter by signing up for online account at www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount. 

  • If a member of your household receives TANF, you must have their Medical Eligibility Card.

  • If your utilities are included in the rent you must provide proof of rental agreement stating monthly rental amount in addition to showing that utilities are included, and landlord contact information.

 

                            Share the Warmth Program

 

  • Most recent Peoples Gas bill issued within the last 30 days.

  • Current Government issued picture ID for the customer of record

  • Proof of household income for the past 30 days

 

                             ComEd Residential Special Hardship Program

 

  • Most recent ComEd bill issued within the last 30 days

  • Current Government issued picture ID for the customer of record

  • Proof of household income for the past 30 days

  • Proof of financial hardship
